Sherry graduated from Linden Hall Academy, Lititz, Pennsylvania, and Chamberlin School of Fashion and Merchandising in Boston.

At the time of her death, she had taken over her father's insurance business and was working as an insurance underwriter in Coral Springs, Florida.

Sherry was predeceased by a sister and has one living brother. She had never married. She had ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War and the Civil War.

CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE MURDER

Sherry Denise Hyde, 34, of Schellsburg, Pennsylvania, was asleep in her bedroom with her glasses folded on the nightstand. She couldn't see faces without her glasses, and she had been murdered in her bed. Six steak knives and a large butcher knife were embedded in her body. She had also been mutilated in other ways. The medical examiner said that this was one of the most brutal homicides he had ever seen. The police believe the case to be one of mistaken identity.

The case remains unsolved.
