Patrick A. Zummo
55 Years Old

August 15, 1937 to December 20, 1993

Patrick A. "Pat" Zummo, of Commack, New York, was the husband of Alice for almost 35 years. They met while they were in high school and together had four daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends who also grieve his loss. He was one of three brothers and four sisters.

Pat was a member of the Fire Department of New York before falling through the floor of a burning, abandoned building in Manhattan, breaking his back and forcing him to retire. Instead of giving up, he returned to the food industry where he began years before, and in a few short years, became Vice President of retail sales for two major companies.

Pat was an avid fisherman and enjoyed an occasional game of golf, but his true love was creating and serving gourmet meals to friends and family. This love of cooking led to the opening of a small restaurant where he became noted for fabulous wine tasting dinners. His dream came true for a short time.

To those who knew him, Pat was truly a modern day Renaissance man whose loss is infinite.

CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE MURDER

Patrick A. "Pat" Zummo, 55, of Commack, New York, was gunned down on December 20, 1992. It was a cold, rainy night, and Pat was leaving his restaurant after closing. As he reached his car, a murderer was waiting for him. He was left partially in the rain until his wife went looking for him the next morning. The crime remains unsolved and his family will never be the same.
