James Prentice Skinner, Jr.
"Jim"
33 Years Old

December 9, 1956 to July 7, 1990

James was born to James and Estelle Skinner of December 9th, 1956. We all called him Jim. He was 33 years of age and single when his life was taken. Jim was one of three children. He has one brother, Weylin Skinner and one sister, Claudia Korengay. He also has two nephews, Aaron and Todd Kornegay, who thought the world of "Uncle Jim". Sunday afternoons were special because that was the time when Jim spent time with Aaron and Todd, taking them to eat ice cream and just spending some quality time with them.

Jim was part owner of the Country Butcher Shop in LaGrange, North Carolina and his job was the making of country sausage. He took a lot of pride in his workmanship. He made a lot of friends in the years that he worked making sausage.

Jim's life was cut short on July 7, 1990 by a cruel act that took his life. Although he's no longer with us, he will never be forgotten as a son, a brother, an uncle and a friend.

CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE MURDER

James Prentice Skinner, Jr., we called him Jim, was murdered on July 7, 1990 by Samuel Spencer Leach of LaGrange, North Carolina. Due to an anonymous tip, Samuel was arrested on July 10, 1990, and was convicted of second degree murder and armed robbery. He received a life sentence. As of July 7, 1999, he will have served nine years of his life sentence.

Jim was stabbed repeatedly. The stab that took his life was to his heart. Death came in a short time. This act took place only about one mile from his home while he was riding his three-wheeler.

Samuel Spencer Leach took something special from us, a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend. Jim's life can never be replaced. We want to see Samuel Leach serve every day that he's supposed to with NO early release.
