Ada Mildred Johnson

Ada Mildred Johnson, 19, of Tallahassee, Florida, came into this world on October 2, 1963 at 10:15 am, weighing 4 lbs. and 8 oz. She was eight minutes older than her twin sister, Susie. Their mom didn't know until two days before they were born that she was carrying twins. They had older twin sisters, Cheryl and Tina, who were 14 months older than Ada and Susie. Later, the family would also include twin boys, Bobby and Leslie. Sadly, Leslie died shortly after birth and brother Bobby is mentally and physically handicapped.

Ada was a very loving person and so close to her twin Susie. She loved teddy bears, having a good time, mashed potatoes, steak and iced tea. She also loved people, her niece Christina, and life in general.

CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE MURDER

Ada Mildred Johnson, 19, of Tallahassee, Florida, was at home on February 9, 1983 when her mother left for work. She was reported missing on February 18th, and a couple searching for firewood in the woods found Ada's body on February 27th. She had been shot in the back of the head and cut with a knife. Her family does not know the actual date of her death.

Serial killer Ottis Elwood Toole confessed to Ada's murder, claiming he met her in a bar. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life without parole. Although Toole acted alone in Ada's murder, he is also serving five other life terms for murders committed with serial killer Henry Lee Lucas.
