Rudolph “Rook” A. Santiful Jr.
29 Years Old

May 17, 1974 to September 7, 2003

Rudolph “Rook” Santiful of Hampton, Virginia was a friendly and funny young man. He was taken from us at the young age of 29. To know him was to love him. If you were in his presence for any length of time, it was almost guaranteed that you would enjoy yourself and would break out laughing. “Rook” as he was known by friends grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He graduated in 1993 from Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, NC, but decided to relocate back to Hampton, Virginia in 1997 to be closer to family and friends. Rook enjoyed football, basketball, bowling and motorcycle riding. He enjoyed many kinds of rap and R&B music. He was also a die-hard Redskin fan.

Rook was such an awesome young man and we appreciate the decision that he made to become an organ donor and help others by sharing the gift of life. Rook was a loving brother. He and his sister (Tracey) spent a great deal of time together. They were very close, and shared in a lot of things and challenges they each faced. Tracey even gave Rook the honor and privilege of naming his niece, T’erra.

Rook is truly loved and will always be missed. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about my son. I believe that one day the Lord will answer our prayers and there will be a day of reckoning for the person that took his life.

Rook leaves to celebrate a life well lived, his mother, Sylvia Orr; stepfather—Charles; father-Rudolph A. Santiful, Sr.; stepmother-Davenna; sister -Tracey and niece-T’erra.

“But those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isiah 40:31

Rook was murdered in his home. As of today, this case remains an unsolved homicide.
