Marcus Tafari Samuel Downer
23 Years Old

July 14, 1992 to July 26, 2015

Marcus Tafari Samuel Downer was born on July 14, 1992 and tragically taken from us on July 26, 2015 in Baltimore, MD.  He was the youngest of all his siblings.  Although Marcus was only twenty three years old, he made an impact on anyone he came in contact with.  He had a smile and personality that would light up a room.  He could make anyone laugh with his impersonations and sense of humor.  He had the gift of making others happy.  Marcus enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.  In his spare time, Marcus just enjoyed being surrounded around family and friends and experiencing life.   He loved traveling and being adventurous.

Marcus was an avid sports fanatic.  He loved his Ravens and Lakers.  He was a diehard fan.  Marcus never gave up on his team.  Marcus loved hip hop and reggae.  Like most people in his generation, he loved social media.  He was always posting selfies on Instagram or Facebook, or saying  something funny on Twitter.  Marcus loved his Jamaican heritage.  He loved the food especially along with the culture.

Marcus was born and raised in Baltimore.  He attended various schools in Baltimore, most notable was Baltimore School for the Arts.  He loved drama, singing, and dancing.  Marcus was so talented at his craft, he was a true well rounded entertainer.  He made an impression on all his instructors and colleagues at BSA.  He featured in many productions, Purlie, The Wiz, Grease, Once on an Island, Cats, Lion King, Little Shop of Horrors, and Macbeth to name a few.  He aspired to be a famous entertainer.  He wanted to move to California to fulfill his acting career.  Marcus was so talented, had he been given the opportunity, he would be shining bright across the movie screen.

My son, Marcus Downer, 23, was observed by me on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 6 p.m. on the 5500 Block of Rubin Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.  He was on the porch of one of the neighbor’s, Brittany Walker.

I spoke with Marcus and I was going to pick him up after I attended a funeral at 7 p.m.  I received a phone call from my sister, Ms. Camitto Taylor at 7:25 p.m. that Marcus was shot.  When I arrived at the scene paramedics were trying to revive Marcus where he later died at Sinai Hospital.

Marcus was shot multiple times (15) because he sat in  Brittany Walker’s empty  baby stroller.  She telephoned her baby’s father and he came to the scene and murdered my son.

The case is unsolved.
